Unit Leader Check List
Arrival time
Volunteers MUST be on the sports field no later than 8:30 a.m. to check in your unit as they arrive. Please arrive in plenty of time to sign in, find your unit tables/boxes and get to the Sports Field by 8:30 a.m.
What to Bring
***As we have a couple of children with severe allergies to peanuts, even airborne ... we ask that you avoid peanut products. If you forget, please be cautious of your surroundings and make sure to wash your hands after touching peanut products. ***
- For yourself
- a snack (avoid peanuts)
- a bag lunch (avoid peanuts)
- spray-on sunscreen
- a hat
- a water bottle
(16-oz is an ideal size; we will provide lots of water for refills throughout the day) - For your unit
- A cooler, preferably with wheels, with ice or ice packs to store the lunch for all the scouts in your unit. Note: It is a long distance from the parking lot to the unit picnic area.
- Almost all campers have turned in their Class 1 medical forms. Make SURE those children you're driving have turned in their medical and activity forms. You will NOT be allowed to bring these kids in to camp. Check: Current Roster to make sure the kids you are carpooling with have their medical forms completed.
- Your driver's license: You will be asked for your driver's license as you exit the camp with your cub scouts.
Parking procedures
Volunteer parking will be at the far lot (the next left off Bollinger Canyon Rd., from the day camp). Feel free to pull up to the pathway at camp, drop your supplies and campers off, then pull around to the next parking lot. The main parking lot will be used for Staff members only and 1 hour parking.
We need to keep this parking lot clear for the evening pickup, at which time the parents will be required to park and walk in to camp to collect their campers on the activity field.
Check-In procedures
- Volunteers & Staff: Check in at the break area (first building on the right) as you enter the camp.
- Jr. Helpers: Check in with Matt Ridgers and David Crinnion on the Pathway. You will be needed at the parking lot to escort Tags to their area.
- Cub Scouts: Check in with your unit leader (to find your unit see: Unit Assignments) on the sports field. Your unit leader will be waiting by a flag with your unit number on it at the sports field.
- Tags: Tags may check-in at the Tag area with the Tag Director. Jr. Helpers will be available at the pathway to escort the Tags to the Tag area.
Coolers with lunches
Coolers and lunches should be left at your unit (picnic) tables.
Unit Boxes
On the first day you will be assigned a unit box. This box will contain supplies and your check-in roster for your children. Find your unit box on the unit table assigned to you (you will need to allow time to find your unit table) and bring it down to the Sports Field. At the end of each day, please leave your unit boxes AND unit flags outside the Tags area for refilling. We will be replacing the campers name tags in the unit boxes each evening.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE FOOD IN THE BOXES - we don't want to feed the wildlife overnight!!!
THANK YOU for volunteering!!! Without you this camp would NOT be possible! See you at camp!!!
