FAQs - TAGs

  1. What is a Tag?
The TAG program is a day care program for siblings which allows the parent free time to work as a volunteer or staff member for the camp. Please note: In order to qualify for the TAG program the parent MUST work ALL 5 DAYS OF CAMP
  2. What ages are TAGs?
For boys TAGs are from potty-trained to preschool age. For girls, TAGs are from potty-trained age to 10 years old (or going into 5th grade the following fall). However, girls in the TAGs program are NOT insured while on the property. Parents must be aware of this fact and prepared to provide private insurance if needed.
  3. What do the TAGs do?
TAGs have great fun at camp as well. There are craft projects, mini-hikes, wading pools, and entertainment at lunch-time.
  4. My girl is 11 years old, or going into 6th grade. Is there a program for her?
Yes! She can join the Jr. Helper program, assisting with stations and the overall running of the camp. See FAQs: Jr. Helpers Please note: If the girl is not in the Ventures program she will NOT be insured while on the property. Parents must be aware of this fact and prepared to provide private insurance if needed.
  5. What is the cost for the TAG program?
$20.00 - but space is limited and camp staff will be given first priority at spaces in the TAGs program.
  6. Why aren't boys older than preschool age included in the Tags program?
Actually, they are. However, in order for your boy to be included in the Tags program if he is older than preschool age he MUST be a registered scout. The problem we've found is that these boys will watch all the cool stuff other boys of his age are doing and by the second day he'll be miserable having to stay in the daycare area. One miserable child makes many miserable children, so we strongly encourage parents of boys older than preschool age to take full advantage of the cub scout day camp.
  7. What if I need to leave the park and my child is in TAGs??
You MUST sign your child out of TAGs and take him/her with you. All children in the TAGs program MUST have one parent on site at all times the child is present.
  8. My TAG has a mental/physical disability. Can he/she still be in the TAG program?
The TAG volunteer may or may not be able to accomodate the particular TAG. As the child's parent you will need to decide whether this program is adequately staffed for your particular child's needs.
  9. Is there an opportunity for a TAG to participate in any events at camp?
We try to take the older children from TAGs and assign a unit leader, scheduling them to participate in events as well. However, before we can recruit special volunteers for the older TAGs unit, we must be certain our Parent/Cub volunteer ratio of 1 parent for every 6 cubs has already been met.
  10. If I volunteer all week for TAGs - what can I do with my own kids?
If you're volunteering all week you can put your kids in TAGs with you!
