What is the difference between a staff position and a volunteer position?
JStaff members plan and execute the station. The staff members will be on site all five days of cub camp. They also have additional responsibilities to the Camp and Program Directors to report their progress in planning and attend monthly staff meetings. Volunteers simply show up on their assigned day(s) at camp and follow the plans presented, or assist in other limited ways before camp begins.
- Do staff members receive any discounts on their cub's camp registration fees?
Absolutely! When staff members register they use a special staff registration site. On this site they will find that there will be no charge to register their children.
-
Do staff members have to attend planning meetings?
Yes. Once each month we meet (See Meetings & Updates page in this website) to update our progress, as well as assist other members in their planning and discuss improvements we can make to this year's camp. We discuss hurdles and find suggestions and pointers to make our jobs easier. We also get a good sense of where we're heading with our stations and what to expect during the actual camp.

Should I wait until my cub has been in camp a few years before staffing?
Absolutely not! Once your cub has experienced cub camp he will want to return year after year. These camps are the highlight of your cub's summer experience. The sooner you get on board with staffing the better. The pride your cub will experience as he visits his mom or dad's stations will last forever! Be your child's favorite hero NOW. Sign up today!

I have no experience in camps, or organizing activities for children. Would I be over my head if I chose to staff?
No. We've run these camps for many years. We have a very wide array of staff parents - from absolutely no experience, to those who have participated every year their child has been a cub. We also have every district within the Mt. Diablo/Silverado Council running the same theme for their cub camps, as well as other councils within California, Nevada and Utah. Coming up with ideas, suggestions, directions for planning and executing stations is not new. You have years of experience backing you up and willing to help you at every turn.
- But I would have no idea where to begin. How would I start?
There's a wide array of positions available. Pick something that interests you. We will guide you every step of the way. We've got this particular camp down to a fine art with tried and true guides. You'll never feel lost!
